Collection: Nuno-Elias

Alentejo, renowned for its hot, dry climate and as a holiday destination, is now considered a birthplace of premium wines. Herdade do Monte da Ribeira (HMR), located next to the village of Marmelar. In 1987, it was purchased by Victor Carmona e Costa. In 2002, Nuno Elias assumed the position as head winemaker and has continued the vineyard's wave of success.

HMR has 43 ha of vineyards and 210 ha of olive groves and sits 400m above sea level on a fault line. The soil has a considerable amount of minerals including iron oxide, creating its surreal crimson red soil. The Serra do Mendro provides shade from the north, and the river running next to the estate provides water to the mineral-rich red soil.

HMR is dedicated to supporting contemporary art and regularly host artist retreats at the winery – hence, the brush strokes on the Pousio label.
