New Classics - 12 Bottle Case
**Price includes DELIVERY**
Derrick Neleman whose view on the world is the same as all the organic winemakers included in this case said it best, "Good wine to save the world."
Times are strange, coming into the Bank Holiday weekend. It typically includes weekends away or BBQs in the garden with family and friends. Spring is well and truly here, and summer is on the way, and this should still be celebrated. So it's time to kick back, put on the sunglasses, turn up the tunes, put your feet in the paddling pool (weather permitting) and relax with some brilliant wines, crafted by nature. Pleased that you not only have a great glass of wine, but you are also supporting real independent winemakers, and this purchase is genuinely making a difference during this time of crisis.
2 x Domaine Paterianakis 2017 - Crete PGI - Greece
The Paterianakis family are third generation winemakers from the hills right in central
Crete. Farming organically and using gravity in the winery, so the healthiest fruit arrives for
gentle pressing. Using wild yeast in stainless steel tanks, this Assyrtiko is full of citrus fruits,
wild herbs and white flower with a vivid, crunch of acidity — delightful.
2 x Neleman Verdil-Viognier 2019 - València DO - Spain
Verdil was an almost extinct variety. Thick-skinned and traditionally used in sweet wine, it gives
a floral nose but needs Viognier, to provide body and some aromatics to the taste. Grapes are
hand-harvested and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. The result is an aromatic, intense
wine, light-bodied with a bone-dry finish.
2 x Steininger Riesling Sekt 2017 - Kamptal DAC Reserve - Austria
When Karl Steininger took over his family winery, he started to concentrate on his real passion and
specialised in sparkling wines. Finding the best terroir, to grown Riesling in primary rocks and then using the Traditional Champagne method. When Dom Perignon said, “come quickly, I am drinking the stars.” He was truly talking about wines like this. Citrus and lime peel aromas, with hints of brioche, balanced with fresh minerality, lively white fruits and a long finish.
2 xDomaine Huber-Verdereau - Cuvée No. 1. ‘Les Chanterelles’ - Coteaux Bourguignon AOC 2015 - France
Gamay, Pinot Noir
“This is an absolute delicious smooth ripe and rounded red cherry and cassis.” John Wilson Irish Times Review, 18th of May 2020.
80% Gamay and 20% Pinot Noir. Gamay is unusual in Burgundy, and the 60-year-old vines are
forbidden to be replaced. So this is a real one of a kind wine. Destemmed with spontaneous
fermentation in concrete vats where it rests on lees for nine months — leading to a real wild
strawberry and rustic nose. Gutsy with elegance.
2 x Kamara ‘Pure Nimbus’ 2017 - Thessaloniki PGI - Greece
Xinomavro, Merlot, Syrah
Xinomavro or black sour is a big grape with characteristics of the Nebbiolo variety. Dimitrios, after
studying at the University of California Davis could see the potential of softening this powerful grape
with Syrah and Merlot. Both Syrah and Merlot are vinified together, with Xinomavro being fermented by itself. Blended a.er ferment and aged in oak barrels for 12 months, leaving us with a big intense ruby wine, with flavours of blackberries, plum, cracked black pepper and a hint of spearmint.
2 x Château de Montdomaine ‘Le Breton’ 2018 - Touraine AOC - France
The nickname Breton is for the Cabernet Franc grape. Le Breton is from husband and wife team
Louisa and Frederick Plou who make this wonderful wine in the vineyard that Fredrick’s family
has been in for five generations. Fermented in stainless steel and using natural yeast only. A
wine with pure fruit and elegance and firm but integrated tannins.
