The Dupuch family have been making wine in the village of St Germain du Puch since the 1950’s. Stephane is the head of the winemaking team and he produces a great value red and white for Wines Direct. The bouquet of this wine has intensity and is supple and well balanced with lovely dark fruits.

The renown of Château Sainte-Marie goes back several centuries, when the owner used to supply the Abbaye de la Sauve Majeure (one of the most ancient abbeys in France, located just 4 km from the Château).
Set right in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, this magnificent estate is located in an excellent geographical position. The south-facing vineyard stretches over two very sunny hilltops which are among the highest points in the Gironde region. Old vines with low yields, including a one hundred-year-old parcel of Semillon, guarantee top quality production.
The Dupuch family believe that wine is a history of time, from the planting of the vines, through every year's harvest, to the time needed to make the wine, and allow it to develop, to grow in the barrels. In industrial production, many things can be done to speed up and regularise the process, but at Chateau Sainte Marie, they believe the most important virtue is patience

"There's a touch of sweet fruit here to balance the dry tannins nicely, crisp and clean, worth a punt."
"A delicious modern style of Bordeaux with lightly creamy cassis fruits and a smooth easy finish."
The abundant variety of terroirs provides scope for selection that is worthy of very great wines. Thanks to thorough geological characterisation of candidate plots, we have succeeded in combining plots with complementary soil types:
