Chateau Lalande 2015

This property was part of the Château Lagrange, a cru classified in 1855. Planted almost entirely with Cabernet grape vines, the vineyard produces an elegant and delicate red wine. It has ripe, lush fruit with a lick of spice from young oak.

Bruno Borie

Chateau Lalande Borie was founded in 1970 by Bruno's father, Jean-Eugene Borie, owner of Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou. He spent the first half of his adult life in self-imposed exile from the family business, as owner and manager of a large drinks company.

Since inheriting control of Ducru-Beaucaillou and Lalande Borie, he has returned to Bordeaux with clear ideas about branding and marketing, but also about how to live life: "To have a vision of the world," explains Borie, and "To figure out what's going on around the planet and bring it back to where I live."

This philosophy is represented in the vineyard management and practices. A lot of the work is carried out by hand such as: leaf thinning, providing canopy from the heat of the sun, and sorting the grapes in the vineyard to avoid contamination of healthy grapes with damaged ones.

While many Bordeaux estates are owned by remote businesspeople and run from an office in Paris, the Borie family live on the property, as they have done since the 50's. They have a daily involvement with this highly regarded estate, working in conjunction with a loyal, talented and committed team.
