Château La Fleur Saint Georges
Merlot, Cabernet Franc
Lalande de Pomerol AOC, Bordeaux, France
This is high quality at a low price from the famous Boüard family, from Château Angelus 1er Grand Cru Classé. A medium-bodied Bordeaux possessing an intense nose with aromas of spicy mulberries and blackberries, finishing with a subtle hint of mint and soft fruit.
The wine is made in a new winery entirely run on gravity to ensure only soft tannins are extracted. Fermentation occurs in specially constructed stainless steel tanks with natural yeast and spends up to one year in barrels coppered on-site.

Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, co-owner of Château Angélus, 1er Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion, where he has been directing the wine making for more than 25 years, is an oenologist graduated from the University of Bordeaux. He is also a consultant for prestigious vineyards in Bordeaux as well as elsewhere.
His mission is clearly stated: producing exceptional wine allying tradition and technology at La FLeur de Boüard and la Fleur St. Georges. Together with his wife and family, he uses the traditional technique of manual harvesting into small crates, ensuring that the fruit coming into the winery is in prime condition.
Technology allows them to keep temperatures cool during fermentation and maintain a freshness in the wine. Of course, the exceptional location of the vineyards in the heart of the right bank helps too!
"A very enjoyable wine, this offers a big mouthful of plum and blackcurrant fruit with coffee-mocha tones from oak ageing."
"...De Bouard is making dazzling, fleshy, chewy, fruit-forward wine that appeals not just to Robert Parker but to the international fine wine palate...ripe blackcurrant, a touch of mocha, leather and a hint of vanilla. It benefits from decanting, and has a few years of happy evolution yet."
