Back to School - 6 Bottle Case
**Price Includes Delivery**
Parents and teachers, this case is designed with you in mind! I think we can admit that it has been a long five months for everyone. We are probably also united in the feeling that it may be with both a bit of hesitation and celebration that we send our kids back to school this year.
The Back to School case includes winemakers in the same situation as yourselves. Their kids are playing amongst the vines today but are soon venturing back to school (whatever that may look like this year). No matter where we are in the world; we are experiencing the same worries this time around, and if we're honest, there's also a little part of us that is jumping for joy.
So, here is a toast to the parents, teachers, aunties, uncles, grans and grandpas that worked so hard during lockdown to keep the kids educated and entertained. And most importantly, here's to a safe and healthy school year for all!
1 xLe Contesse Pinot Rosé Brut NV - Treviso IGT (Italy)
Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc
The beautiful pink colour comes from fermenting some of the Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) grapes on their skins. This is a dry style of sparkling wine. Still, with its rose petal and berry aromas, make for an excellent aperitif. The Italians will pair it with rich chocolate cake — a feature of birthday parties or any celebration.
1x Chateau Thieuley 'Francis Courselle' (Organic methods, Terra Vitis)
Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon
Château Thieuley ‘Cuvée Francis Courselle’ 2015 - Bordeaux AOC Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon A wine made by the Courselles and named after their father Francis, 50/50 Sauvignon/Semillon. It is fermented on skins in oak and resting on lees in oak for 9 months and blended just before bottling. “This is classic Graves-style wine, with that strange contrast between sweet oak and sharp citric fruit. As such, it is perhaps an acquired taste, but for aficionados, this delivers huge satisfaction!” Jancis Robinson, Purple Pages.
1x Guerinda ‘La Blanca’ 2018/19 - Navarra DO (Organic methods, Vegan)
Wine from grapes grown in the Guerinda mountains, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, are kept naturally cool and disease-free by the Cierzo wind from the north. Sisters, Maria and Joanna Abete, farm organically with as little intervention as possible. Concrete vats are used to ensure nothing interferes with the pure, bright flavours of their Chardonnay.
1x Domaine Huber-Verderau Cuvée No. 1 ‘Les Chanterelles’ - Coteaux Bourguignon AOC 2015 (Organic certified, Biodynamic certified, Agricultural Biologique, Vegan Certified)
Gamay, Pinot Noir 80% Gamay and 20% Pinot Noir
Gamay is unusual in Burgundy, and the 60-year-old vines are forbidden to be replaced. So this is a real one of a kind wine. Destemmed with spontaneous fermentation in concrete vats where it rests on lees for nine months — leading to a real wild strawberry and rustic nose. Gutsy with elegance.
1x Benmarco 2018 - Mendoza Malbec (Organic methods)
From Susana Balbo's son José, with grapes grown exclusively high up in the Uco Valley, where healthy, easy-to-manage vines produce low yields of high-quality fruit, creating flavourful, full-bodied wines with generous acidity. Ageing in one-year-old French oak for 11 months, with extended lees contact, gives richness and complexity.
1x Cosimo Maria Masini ‘Sincero’ 2018 - Toscana Rosso IGT Sangiovese (Organic certified, Biodynamic Certified, Vegan certified)
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
Hand-harvested early in the morning and brought to the winery in small boxes. The grapes are fermented on skins, using natural yeast, for about 20 days in small concrete vats to maintain low temperature. A manual, less invasive pumping over, and minimal addition of sulphites all lead to this beautiful 'sincere' expression of the carefully tended and gently handled fruit.
